Shopmobility
is a scheme providing powered and
non-powered wheelchairs and powered
scooters, to enable people with limited
mobility to shop and use town centre
facilities. The equipment is available
from a centrally located spot within
Stretford Mall.Who can use the scheme?
Young and elderly people who have
mobility difficulties as a result of
permanent or temporary disablement, age,
accident or illness.
How does the scheme operate?
On your first visit, you will be
required to complete a simple form, and
provide proof of identification (e.g.
pension book, bus pass, driver’s licence,
etc). Staff will help you to choose the
best vehicle for your needs and you will
be shown how to operate it safely. An area
is set aside for trying the wheelchair or
scooter out, and you can practise as much
as you like.
How can I become a member and what are
the benefits?
By becoming a member of Trafford
Shopmobility, you are entitled to one
year’s unlimited use of either a
wheelchair or scooter. Membership costs
£20 per year, which includes a membership
card. You will also be entitled to vote at
the Annual General Meeting.
Charges
Membership fee £20.00 per annum
Powered scooters or wheelchairs £4.00 per
session*
Non-powered wheelchairs £1.50 per session*
* A session is up to three hours
At Stretford Mall a £2.00 refundable
deposit is required.
